The 313km task was started at 11:15 and completed at 15:10, giving a cross-country speed of over 80kph. Conditions were very good on the day and only the first leg, when conditions were weaker, presented much risk of a landout.

Two or three earlier attempts at this task had failed.

With an average speed of over 75kph for close to 7 hours, the track of this flight is incredibly straight and without deviation until the return overflight of Eastons Corners when a side-trip to Fallowfield Road was made to burn-off excess altitude.

As a budding cross-country pilot, Carl Pottle flew this triangle from Kars to Brockville to Ingleside and home again on July 19, 2012. It is notable for its shape: instead of the common wanderings, back tracking or other deviations, this flight appears to have been made with specific targets in mind and a determination to reach them.

Mike Stieber flew this 458km course very close to the town of Cloyne on July 29, 2012. His speed was an impressive 86kph.
